The cornea and the lens of the eye are responsible for projecting an image on the light sensitive retina. The cornea is the clear, dome-shaped front part of the eye, on which contact lenses can be placed. The light sensitive retina contains photoreceptors which are able to pick up light stimuli. The stimulated photoreceptors then send a nerve signals to the brain.
